Hi, I’m Vik
I am an experienced NHS consultant ophthalmologist and fellowship trained oculoplastic (eyelid) surgeon with over 20 years of experience.
I work in the NHS at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals based in Preston and Chorley. I specialise in cataract, eyelid, lacrimal (watery eye) and orbital surgery (thyroid eye disease). Our team offer a tertiary referral service to the Lancashire and South Cumbria area.
Having graduated from medical school at the University of Dundee in 1998, I completed ophthalmic surgical training in Taunton, Nottingham and Cardiff. In 2008, I completed my fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at the internationally renowned Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. I was appointed as a NHS consultant in Lancashire Teaching Hospitals in Preston in 2010.
I am committed to teaching and training and have held various roles with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and University of Manchester.
I have volunteered in both India and Cambodia, performing cataract surgery and providing oculoplastic training to local doctors.
I have published in peer-reviewed journals on numerous topics and presented scientific papers internationally.
I am a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. I am a member of the British Oculoplastic Surgical Society (BOPSS), European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS) and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS).
When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my three children, running and playing golf!
